Parents of 5th grade students
Hello,
This is the final week of the FitnessGram testing. Please read below to get more information about this testing. Please make sure that your student is here everyday to ensure that they are getting their academic needs met and to ensure that their teachers have enough time to complete mandatory testing such as the Fitnessgram.
In February 1996, the State Board of Education (SBE) designated FITNESSGRAM® as the required physical fitness test that school districts must administer to all California students in Grades 5, 7, and 9. In addition to these designated grade levels, students in Grades 10, 11 and 12, who have not yet achieved 5 out of 6 Healthy Fitness Zones (HFZ) will also be tested this year. SDUSD has established an additional testing window from October 24th through November 18th, 2011 for all 11th grade students (class of 2013) and 12th grade students (class of 2012) who have not yet achieved 5 of 6 HFZs. The additional fall administration was established to provide 11th and 12th grade students an additional opportunity to pass prior to scheduling courses for the following semester. The 2011-12 spring testing window is from February 27th through March 23rd, 2012. The FITNESSGRAM® is a comprehensive, health-related physical fitness battery developed by The Cooper Institute. The primary goal of the FITNESSGRAM® is to assist students in establishing lifetime habits of regular physical activity.
Thank you,
Mrs. Jenkins-Martin

English Learner Reclassification meeting this Tuesday, March 20th
Hello,
Parents of English Learners will get the opportunity to hear how they can help their students become more proficient in reading, writing, listening and speaking. This meeting will be lead by Johnson's English Language Support Teacher, Mrs. Arterberry.
The meeting will begin at 9:30 in Room 7 at Johnson. This meeting proved to be very helpful for our parents last year. Our school had many students reclassify this school year because of what the parents learned at the 2011 meeting. We hope to see you there!
